Taco Tuesday
Well I finally made it to a Taco Tuesday. For those of you not familiar, it's simply a happy hour held every Tuesday at a chain of Mexican restaurants here. If you go out on Tuesday it's the place to go. I'm not much of a weekday drinker, and especially not much of a Tuesday drinker. But I was sitting at work yesterday when the phone rang. It was one of my best friends from elementary school who just happened to be in town, and managed to find my number. Another guy we went to elementary school was in town on business for the week, and he had come along with him for a mini vacation. So we went to the infamous Taco Tuesday, and two things struck me while sitting there having a beer and some nachos. The first was there's not that many people here for a taco Tuesday. It was crowded but not overly crowded. The second thing that struck me was why are there nearly one hundred people here drinking on a Tuesday night. Don't these people have jobs? Well it was all around a good time. We had a few laughs, a few drinks, and caught up on things. It's nice to see people that you haven't seen in a while; people who know you from the past. It's a way to gauge where you are, and how far you've come. It’s also always fun to reminisce on the good times you’ve had. One thing I notice is that people from the Midwest are so much more down to earth, and so much more real than people in Southern California. I've always felt this, but being around some Ohio people again just really re-enforced it.
