While I was driving
I was driving home from the beach yesterday and took a way I usually don't go. As I was driving I started to notice a bunch of people lined up on the sidewalk for at least a quarter of a mile. They were all holding anti-abortion signs. The vast majority of them simply said, "abortion is murder". Seeing these people brought up a few questions. But, first of all let me state I am 100% pro-choice. I don't think abortion is a good thing. If you’re financially capable of supporting a child, and are in a relationship with someone you really care about I think abortion is wrong. However, if you are not financially capable, or don't care about the person you are with, or don't want to be with that person I think abortion makes sense. Obviously, these people who are having sex and getting pregnant (or getting someone else pregnant) at a time in their life where they cannot deal with the consequences are not acting responsible or in a mature manure. But, this just reinforces my point. Do you really want these people bringing children into the world? I don't. But, let me get back on track. The first thought I thought when I saw these protestors was what the hell are these people doing? I suppose there could have been an abortion clinic where they were standing (as I don't know the area that well). But it wouldn't make sense for them to have been so spread out. So they must have just been out protesting in general. Do they think they changed any ones mind? I mean did someone drive by and see the sign and say, "Sh@t. Abortion is murder. Damn I have to change my whole outlook on life now". I very much doubt it. But, I suppose if you strongly believe that abortion is murder then even if you made someone think about it, or possible changed someone’s mind it would be worth the time and effort you spent. One thing I've noticed about the pro-life crowd is that they are all religious. I'm sure there are some people who aren't. But, I've never met them or heard of them. So my question to them is "where do these 'murdered' babies go"? Obviously, if you are religious they go to heaven. Is this such a bad thing? Eternity in heaven, or a shitty life with parents who don't want you. I could understand the argument if you were an atheist. If you kill this baby that's it. But if you believe in heaven wouldn't this just take away all the child's future suffering? To take it to the extreme, who are these wack jobs that murder abortion doctors. This has always baffled me. They seem to always be total religious zealots. Again, isn't it better for the child to go straight to heaven? And more importantly if these doctors are murderers, won't they be justly punished by your god? Thall shall not judge. That is unless you are a crazy abortion doctor murdering religious zealot, and then it's ok.
